3 x vigour for the autumn

Autumn has come and the days are growing shorter and colder. In spite of a few last sunbeams we have to retrieve our winter coats from the wardrobe. For many people autumn is the most beautiful season, with abundant color, delightful walks in the forest and visits to friends. But it’s also the time of colds, the flu and darkening days.

On behalf of organic farmers from all over the world we are sending you three special products, that you may use to prepare delicious autumn recipes that will support your health and vitality in this time of year: a pomegranate from Turkey, yellow and purple sweet potato from North Caroline and fresh ginger from China: all organic. Each of these products has it’s own special story, that we like to tell you about shortly below.

The pomegranate comes from Mehmet Daldal in Turkey. De colorful splendor of the pomegranate can really be seen when you open the fruit. The pomegranate has been a symbol of fertility and vigour since ancient times, because of the hundreds of juicy kernels. These are full of anti-oxidants that support and restore your body. If you want to know more about Mehmet Daldal, look on this website with code 228. There you’ll find the whole story about his farm!

The sweet potatoes come from the Barnes family in America, code 170 on this site. The indians were already growing sweet pototoes for hundreds of years before Columbus arrived, and knew everything about the healthy properties of this tuber. They have a high content of vitamins, iron, magnesium and all kinds of trace elements. The complex carbohydrates digest very gradually and have a stabilising influence on blood suger levels: an ideal fuel for the body.

The ginger comes from grower Wenbo Pan, from the east of China, code 515 on this website. His organic farm works with Taoïst principles. A central concept in Chinese philosophy is the idea of “chi”, the life force that flows through all living creatures. Ginger has been known in China for centuries as a spice that stimulates “chi” and has warming properties. This company is also involved in protecting women’s rights.

We hope that the sustainability stories behind these product will inspire you as much as the products themselves.

PS: Our overseas products are shipped by boat, which is the most energy-efficient transport method, and our own packaging comes from renewable sources.
