Braeburn
Medium to large sized apple with a green to golden background skin color. The skin has an overlay of striped red with a red blush. The flesh is pale, cream colored, crisp and juicy, with a slightly tart flavour. The fruit is aromatic and firmly textured. Excellent for fresh eating, bakes well and makes an excellent sauce that requires little or no sugar. Excellent keeping qualities.
Developed in New Zealand, in 1952. Thought to be a chance seedling of Lady Hamilton crossed with a Granny Smith.
