Golden Delicious
Large sized fruit of conic shape. Its tender skin is golden yellow. The flesh is firm, crisp, and juicy, with a mildly sweet distinctive flavour. Good quality all purpose apple. May be used for pies and sauces with little or no sugar. Shrivels in storage. Probably the most widely known and most tasteless apple.
This chance seedling of Grimes Golden was developed near Bomont, West Virginia, USA and introduced by Stark Bros. around 1900.
