Red Delicious
Large heart-shaped apple with five distinctive small "bumps" on the flower end. Its color is bright uniform red or deep ruby. Its creamy white flesh is moderately firm with a granular texture and a sweet, mildly aromatic flavour. Good for salads.
Chance seedling (supposedly of Yellow Bellflower), originated in Iowa in 1972.
