Did you know  . . . . . . that clemetines are named after a French priest called Father Clément, who found them growing in Western Algeria?

Clementine

Small flat-bottomed, round citrus fruit with typical orange skin. Its bright orange flesh is tender, semi-sweet and but full of aroma. It is entirely seedless. The clemetine ripes earlier than the real (other?) mandarins and appears on the market already in november.
An infusion of its peel is an effective aid to digestion.

The clementine is probably the result of a crop selection in Algeria in the early part of the 19th century.
