Did you know  . . . . . . that the Ellendale Mandarin is named after Ellendale orchard on the banks of the Burrum river near Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia?

Ellendale

Medium to large fruit with a flat bottom. The skin is relatively smooth and of a deep orange color. The flesh is tender very juicy. It has a high sugar as well as acid content, which gives it a rich sweet tangy flavor. Contains only few seeds. Stores well, but not as long as thicker skinned citrus, such as lemons and oranges. The skin is very fragrant and is particularly good in sachets or pot-pourri.

Originated in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia around 1878. Believed to be a natural cross of mandarin and an orange hybrid.
