Fresh, Fun, Organic Wild Wonders

Frank: I own three greenhouses (in total 8,5 ha) which are situated in and around Tinte, a small town in the south-west part of the Netherlands, close to the famous Delta project. This huge construction was built to protect the south-west part of the Netherlands from the sea following the terrible flood disaster in 1953.
In 1989, I started growing conventional vine cucumbers and tomatoes. However, relatively soon thereafter, I realized that conventional production on rock wool did not give me the quality I was looking for. Changing to organic cultivation was therefore a natural choice
I see organic farming as a challenge to achieve the same production quantity as conventional, but with a better quality and particularly a better taste. I hope that this will also provide me with a better economic return. It is also more enjoyable to grow on real soil instead of rock wool and make use of compost and beneficial plants and insects instead of having to rely on chemical products.
