In order to protect the environment and also in order to reduce costs, El Torreon tries to reduce energy-use wherever they can: In 2007, the roof of the packaging area was changed and in the same move equipped with many windows in order to be able to work with sun light during working hours instead of using electricity. Additional to that, energy use is minimized through Chilean law, which specifies that from 17.30h onwards, no more electricity for strong machines can be used. For 2011, El Torreon plans to heat the offices not by gas anymore but by solar energy. Needed measures are taken and the project is developed and waiting to be implemented for the next winter.
