The practices used by Roberto Garrido have the knock-on effect of increasing plant and animal life and maintaining natural biodiversity. Insecticide-free farming is beneficial for honey bees (see photo) and other insects. The flower borders and trees that are planted, give shelter to many animals. Using compost increases the number of micro-organisms, earthworms, spiders and all kinds of insects in the soil. Birds, bats and small mammals profit from this too. Roberto loves to be in his orchards and monitor everything that is going around!
