De Olmenhorst

De Olmenhorst is a beautiful estate that has been in the family for more than 150 years. My great-great grandfather Stephanus de Clercq used the land for arable farming (mainly potatoes, oats and peas). At the end of the 19th century, Willem de Clercq planted the first orchards and under his supervision fruit growing became an important part of the business.
When I took over in 1986, we decided to focus completely on growing fruit. Although we have always tried to grow our fruit as sustainable as possible, in the late 90’s we started working according to the organic principles and since 2003 all our fruit is sold as organic.
Today we are modern fruit business with more than 17 hectares of orchards including 38,000 apple trees and 10,000 pear trees. Apart from growing and selling fruit, we also organize a wide range of activities and events here on the estate.
