Emerald Acres employees get a decent pay. During the citrus season every worker earns extra, and also gets a travelling allowance for the taxi to take them to their own homes every evening; this helps them care for their families. Last year, the “One cent for the future” campaign raised money to improve and tidy up the housing for the laborers. This went to new paint, new windows and doors. It has really brightened up, as the picture shows!
Emerald Acres is important for the local economy, supplying income opportunities for at least 50 people, who trade chickens from the farm, or work as taxi drivers.
