I am Ray van Vilsteren, farm manager at FROC (FRutas Organicos de Colombia).  If you found this website by eating one of our delicious fruits, we would like to thank you for buying our product. FROC is located on land that has been certified organic for 5 years, but we are proud to say that it has been free of chemicals for at least 25 years. This results in a large variety of plants, trees, birds and other animals living on the farm. Our aim is to continue producing high quality fruits while maintaining a natural balance between food production and the local flora and fauna. To ensure we meet our goals we maintain small plots of land (measuring no bigger than 5 hectares), we use a high-tech irrigation system on all our production fields to prevent any water waste and, we produce our own compost from the grass and manure of the organically raised cows on the farm, thereby creating a ‘closed’ system. Besides that we maintain a careful crop rotation system that limits production of the same fruit on the same field for more than 6 years so as to avoid the spread of harmful insects or diseases in the soil. As an organic farm we don’t use chemicals but do make use of natural enemies (good insects) to prevent the harmful insects from eating your fruit before you can!
