SoilImportant practices used by ITFC to maintain and improve the health of the soil include:
• Using compost and other organic fertilisers – to improve soil structure and prevent soil erosion
• Not using artificial fertilisers and chemical synthetic pesticides – to protect soil life and with it the soils and plants health and natural disease resistance.
Sowing green manure crops. Particularly during the rainy season, ITFC encourages her growers  to intercrop with ground nuts.  This cover crop not only sowed for it’s nitrogen fixing benefits and the fact that it helps to promote farm hygiene but is also come a source of income for the grower.
