Solidarity

Lorraine Farm is operated like a big family. Of course, everybody has their own house to live in, but when in need the workers can turn to Mike and Gay for help. This has happened on numerous occasions. Whether a worker needs a loan for a new refrigerator or transportation to the hospital in the middle of the night, Mike and Gay are there for them. Being a small operation they realize that they depend on each other.

But the solidarity with their workers goes beyond interdepence.  Once a year, Mike and Gay offer the children on the farm a special trip to either the zoo, the aquarium or simply to the beach.  These are opportunities which they otherwise would not be able to enjoy.

On a more regular basis, Mike and Gay support the local primary school.  Apart from learning reading, writing, and mathematics, the school also teaches many ecological issues and operates a vegetable plot to provide the students with a hands-on experience of gardening.
