The pomegranate: a remarkable fruit
The pomegranate came from Persia originally
The pomegranate came from Persia originally and has been grown for centuries around the Mediterranean Sea. The fruit consists of a large number of deep red seeds, that are very juicy. This juice was the original ingredient for grenadine lemonade. Worldwide, the pomegranate was always seen as a symbol of fertility and life forces. Modern science also confirms the health-bringing qualities of the fruit: it’s full of potassium, vitamin C and anti-oxidants, especially polyphenols; it contains four times as much polyphenols as red wine or green tea.
