Hi, my name is Kurt Widemann en together with my brother Klaus and a great team we produce, delicious, freshly squeezed organic apple juice. We are based in Bermatingen which is in the south of Germany very close to the Bodensee.

Our father Kurt Widemann set up the company in 1958 and today we are one of the largest fruit processors in Germany.  I have been involved in the family business since 1984 and today I run the company with my brother.  Klaus is in charge of our factory in Lindau where they produce all kinds of delicious juices and my focus here in Bermatingen is on apple juice.

In 1992 we started with the small scale production of organic Apple juice.  Most of the apples we use for the organic juice comes from “Streuobst”.  These are apples that come from the older and therefore bigger trees.  Because the apples are difficult to reach and pick it is no longer commercially to sell them as fresh apples.  Generally speaking the apple growers wait till the fall on the ground and then collect them for juice production.  Apart from being a source of income for the local farmers, the “Streuobst” also plays an important role in maintaining the original landscape of this region and ensuring diverse varieties. Due to a growing demand for organic products, these trees are now no longer being replaced by younger trees and that means wonderful old orchards with classic apple varieties (such as Gravensteiner, Glockenapfel and Makintosch) are maintained.
