Classic Tomato Salad

6 tomatoes
1 red onion
1 clove of garlic
a little olive oil
a pinch of salt
a little (freshly ground black pepper)
fresh basil or parsley for decoration
cut tomatoes in half and slice each half into several pieces
cube the red onion in small pieces
mash up the garlic with a little salt
mix all ingredients together and let rest for several hours (in the refrigerator)
(this recipe does not require lemon juice or vinegar, since the tomatoes develop their own acidity)
sprinkle a little basil or parsley on top just before serving
