South Africa
Hi, we are Paul Roos Jr. and Paul Roos Sr., representing Pro-Plum Organics in the Waterberg region of Limpopo, South Africa. Together with our family and dedicated team, we grow delicious organic fruit—especially plums, nectarines and peaches. Our orchards are fully organic and cared for with compost and natural methods, without synthetic chemicals.
From cattle to organic stonefruit
Our family farm started back in 1968 with cattle. In 1995, we planted our first plum orchards, and in 2005 we made a clear choice: the entire farm would be managed 100% organically, with no parallel conventional production. That decision made us a true pioneer—especially in a context where organic fruit growing was still largely unknown in South Africa.

Why the Waterberg Highlands matter
What makes our orchards special is the location: the pollution-free Waterberg Highlands, with clean mountain water, fertile soils, and a climate well suited to fruit production. Hail nets protect the trees, and thanks to natural pest control, our orchards form part of a living ecosystem rather than a high-input monoculture.

Soil-first organic farming, packed with integrity
Instead of synthetic inputs, we build fertility with our own compost and worm compost tea, enriched with natural humic and fulvic acids. Pests are managed through natural predators, with organic sprays only as a last resort. All fruit is packed in our own dedicated organic packhouse, ensuring full integrity and traceability from orchard to box. For us, organic is more than a label—it’s a way of farming that builds soil health, supports biodiversity, and delivers fruit with real flavour and nutritional value.
Organic stonefruit production avoids synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, reducing emissions and energy use.
Natural orchard management and manual practices keep the climate footprint low.
Compost and organic matter increase water retention in the semi-arid Western Cape, reducing irrigation needs for stonefruit orchards.
Efficient, well-managed irrigation conserves scarce freshwater resources.
Soil fertility is built through compost, mulching and natural groundcover rather than chemical inputs.
Chemical-free cultivation protects soil life and maintains long-term soil health in stonefruit orchards.
Organic stonefruit orchards support beneficial insects, birds and native wildlife because no synthetic pesticides are used.
Natural vegetation around orchards helps maintain ecological balance and species diversity.
Workers are not exposed to hazardous agrochemicals, supporting safer, healthier working conditions.
Training and development enable skill growth and improve job opportunities.
The farm provides stable rural employment and strengthens livelihoods in the Western Cape.
Fair labour practices and social responsibility contribute to community well-being.
High-quality organic stonefruit secures access to premium markets and better price stability.
The family-run enterprise ensures reliable supply and sustainable long-term business growth.
Pro-Plum Organics is based in the Waterberg region of Limpopo (South Africa), where clean mountain water, fertile soils and a suitable climate support fully organic stonefruit.
