Mangosteen

The taste of this delicious fruit is often described as a mix between a lychee, peach, strawberry and pineapple.

You open Mangosteen by making a deep horizontal cut in the purple shells around the middle, with a sharp knife and twist off one half of the shell, exposing the white, creamy flesh.

  • The highest concentration of nutrients are found in the rind of the fruit.
  • You can brew tea of the rind of the mangosteen
  • Originally from Southeast Asia
  • Supports blood sugar control because of xanthone (natural anti-oxidant) compounds
  • In China, Mangosteen is said to have the most cooling properties out of any known plant because of its yin energy
  • It’s no coincidence mangosteen is such a precious fruit: the tree takes 5 years to bear its first fruit – and 25 years to reach full production.
